Rules we build for
Canadian customer data falls under PIPEDA. If you sell to US consumers, California’s CCPA and roughly 20 other state privacy laws may apply once you pass their thresholds, so build consent, data export and deletion into the product early.
Ontario organizations with 50 or more employees need WCAG 2.0 AA public websites. Building your marketing site and app to WCAG 2.1 AA also helps when enterprise and public-sector buyers ask for accessibility conformance reports.
Software sold to Canadian customers is taxed by the customer’s province: 13% HST in Ontario, 5% GST in Alberta, and Québec and British Columbia add their own provincial tax. Stripe Tax or a similar tool can calculate it at checkout.
