Rules we build for
UK GDPR sets the rules on lawful basis, transparency, data-subject rights and reporting serious breaches to the ICO within 72 hours. The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 amended parts of the regime, so privacy notices written before then are worth reviewing.
Non-essential cookies need consent under PECR. The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 added limited exemptions, such as some analytics where visitors can easily opt out, but advertising cookies still need opt-in, and PECR fines now match UK GDPR levels. Marketing emails need consent or a valid soft opt-in.
The standard VAT rate is 20%, and UK businesses must register once taxable turnover passes £90,000 in a rolling 12 months. Your store needs VAT-inclusive consumer pricing and VAT invoices for business customers.
The Equality Act 2010 requires service providers to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, which in practice includes accessible websites. WCAG 2.2 AA is the usual target, and public-sector bodies have their own accessibility regulations.
